Every year millions of tons of waste end up in oceans, on the beaches, in the forests or simply abandoned in the environment. The main causes are the dizzying pace of production and the type of consumption, both unsustainable patterns that however belong to our society. In addition, the waste management strategies and the lack of awareness on behalf of the population intervene to worsen the scenario. In order to reduce the littering in nature and to give visibility to the problem, the EWWR coordinates Let’s Clean Up Europe, the first clean-up campaign coordinated at the European level. AICA is the European Secretariat of Let’s Clean Up Europe, on behalf of the Italian Steering Sommittee.

A European movement

In order to tackle the problem of waste, in recent years several cleaning campaigns have been carried out in Europe. The European Clean Up Day “Let’s Clean Up Europe” aims to coordinate these initiatives to have a unique event that takes place during the same period of time across the whole continent, with the goal of reaching and involving as many citizens as possible.
In 2015 Let’s Clean Up Europe took place from May 8 to 10 , 2015 (with an actions have been accepted from the 3 to 17  of the same month) .Extension period of actions 1-15 May 2016
